Telluride or die

I was invited to make the poster for the Telluride Fim Festival 2019. The festival director Julie Huntsinger and her team were a dream to work for. I am still kicking myself.

I channelled early cinema experimentation, paying heed to lighting, location, recording, editing, sound and performance.

Framed

Happy to reveal that Tillou Fine Art are showing a fresh range of my works.
It is a great pleasure to draw on the loose- like syrup coming from my hand.

Visual Haiku

My dear champion, the late gallery director Lance Kinz, told me that my best work was visual haiku. A term appropriate for the form, the temperament and the juxtaposition he found in The Last Wave.
I miss his refreshing frankness, encouragement and wisdom- especially when I am wrapped up in my head as I finish a painting. I like a tight brief. A recipe. An alphabet. A puzzle. To pin a thing down, I have to watch and walk around it a bit – until I can find its heart.
